Queen Anne Emergency Center Under Construction Queen Anne Emergency Center Under Construction

Planned Opening in 2010!

Shore Health System, the University of Maryland Medical System, and Queen Anne's County have partnered to build and operate a 24-hour freestanding emergency center to serve the residents of Queen Anne's County and the neighboring region. The planned center, a full service licensed emergency department just like those connected to a hospital, will include on-site imaging and laboratory services. It will be located at Grasonville on Nesbit Road just off Route 50.

In early 2007, state and county officials recognized a need in Queen Anne's County for a facility that could provide emergency medical treatment. This prompted the Maryland legislature to adopted Senate Bill 750, introduced by Senator E.J. Pipkin, which regulates and licenses a facility in the county to serve as the first such freestanding emergency center in a rural area of the state.

Through the efforts and support of Queen Anne's County Commissioners and staff, the land and supporting infrastructure for this center are being made possible. The work of a vibrant volunteer group is organizing to support fundraising and community outreach in Queen Anne's County.
